2- is there another way to identify which receive connector has an external relay access, not using powershell (get-receiveconnector | get-adpermission | where {$_.user -like "*anonymous*" -and $_.extendedrights -like "ms-exch-smtp-accept-any-recipient"

Hi,

I have Exchange 2010 DAG Multi Role with 2 Servers , I am planning to Introduce Exchange 2013 in my Organization ,  I will create a new DAG on Exchange 2013 Multi Role Server . My Question is about email flow.

1- Right After installing Exchange DAG , Email flow will remain same to Exchange 2010 or it will be changed to Exchange 2013 ?

2- During Coexistence Mail Flow will be routed to Exchange 2013 even from external and proxy traffic to Exchange 2010. ?

3- Do i need to change anything on configuration level on Exchange 2010.

Regards

Hi guys,

today we patched our Exchange server 2013 with the latest updates.

Outlook cant connect with exchange.

OWA we get the log in page we add username and password after the page is not loading " Blank ", is the same for ECP.

nothing really changed on the virtual directory. on the https 443 is the correct certificate configured on the server.

powershell is not connecting either.

I want to use those commands to reset everything but can't even connect using powershell

Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -Identity "adminsrv\OWA (Default Web Site)" -FormsAuthentication $False -BasicAuthentication $True

Set-OWAVirtualDirectory -Identity "adminsrv\OWA (Default Web Site)" -FormsAuthentication $true -BasicAuthentication $True

please advise how to fix this.

Problems with Office 365 - Mailrouting?!

Hello,

well as u can see here: https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/t/415263?pi14985=2

I got a problem with the mailflow.

UserA@domainA.com was moved vom on premise to exchange online.

UserB@domainA.com is still on premise.

UserA can send mails. And can get mails. From external or on premise.

UserB can send mails. Gets mails from on premise users. Not from external. They get an error. Also can't get an email from UserA.

Ok, now we did some configurations in office 365 and the local exchange.

Now I'm getting this error:

Diagnostic information for administrators:

Generating server: AM2PR09MB0003.eurprd09.prod.outlook.com
Receiving server: AM2PR09MB0003.eurprd09.prod.outlook.com

mouse@roschmann.us
11/5/2015 4:57:11 PM - Server at AM2PR09MB0003.eurprd09.prod.outlook.com returned '550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired'
11/5/2015 4:49:00 PM - Server at emea01-internal.map.protection.outlook.com (10.47.216.27) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10061, Win32 error code: 10061." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1701'

Original message headers:

So I think its a problem with our local config. Well: The exchange server is behind a firewall. Are there any port forwardings needed? I thought exchange online and on premise are talking over SMTP?

Thanks!

URGENT - Unable to send Mail - EXC2010 - Database dismounted (even though its not)

Hi All

Server details:

OS: Server 2008 R2

Exchange 2010

Virtual Environment

We recently shut down the exchange server, as we were changing network config on our storage and core, when we bought the server back on line it would not bring network adapter back (VMXNET 3)

WE had to do an OS Disk restore, (Kepth the Database and logs disks as they were) and after some cleaning up with virtual hardware, the server is now stable, but Exchange is not sending mails at the moment.

The database is showing as Mounted, but mails sit in the queue and do not send out

When running Troubleshooting assistant i get an error of:

Result of Test-MapiConnectivity for mailbox database "Mailbox Database 19056XXX" on server SERVER was "FAILURE" with error=database is dismounted

when i go to check the database it shows as Mounted

Need urgent help on this as we have no mail at the moment :(

Need Help!~ Mail Forwarding via Domain

I'm struggling with an issue at work. We've launched a second website and I need info@A and info@B to rout to separate places

We're running Exchange 2013 and it won't let me create 2 different users with 'info' as the username. I'm good with the Forwarding Rules integrated into the Exchange GUI but I can't get it to forward by the Recipients Domain Name.

I've tried every variation of 'test@domain.com', '@domain.com', 'domain.com' 'domain' for all the following options:

  • The Domain Is
  • The Recipient Includes
  • The Recipient Matches
  • Any Recipient Includes
  • Any Recipient Matches

Nothing has worked, and I need to get this running ASAP so I'll appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks!~

Specific mails are not delivered to the user inbox. "Message delivery is taking longer than expected".

Hello,

A users is complaining she doesn't receive a certain e-mails. I check the usual stuff, anti-spam, see if her Outlook is connected etc.

Everything checks out, when I check message tracking I see the mail is delivered to Exchange but Exchange can't put it in her mailbox and reports the following: Message delivery is taking longer than expected. There may be system delays. For more information, contact your helpdesk.

After reading several threads I get something about diskspace but this machine (and the location of the queue and databases) has 50GB+ free space and reside on the same machine. I have also installed the update rollup 10 for Exchange 2013 with a few reboots but this doesn't seem to help.

This only seems to happen to specific messages. No strange eventlog messages are generated.

Routing mail through DLP server

$

Hi,

We have a 3rd party DLP system that we would like to route mails through incoming and outgoing. This system will then review the mails for material that shouldn't be there and does the following:

Sensitive material found - Holds message on the server for review

Sensitive material not found - Routes the message back to the mail server to then be sent to the client

I have done endless amounts of research into trying to found out how to do this, or even just trying to find the correct terminology, but I'm getting nowhere.

Can anyone help by pointing me in the right direction? The DLP system we are wanting to route mails through wants to receive the mail on 10025 and send back to the exchange server on 10026.

I initially tried installing the mail server with both Client Access Server and Mailbox Server installed, but then I had the idea that maybe I can't route traffic if they are both installed on the same server, so currently in a state where I have two mail servers with Client Access Server on one, and Mailbox Server on the other. I definitely feel that I'm either missing some settings in the Exchange Admin Center, or I'm totally overlooking a set of options.

Thanks in advance for any replies, I'd appreciate any feedback or comments.

Exchange 2013 Single Multi-Role server Receive connector message size limits do not work

$

I recently discovered that on a single multi-role server you must set the attachment size limit at the organization level and not on the receive/send connectors. With this limitation is there a way to configure the following?

1. Set max send/receive message size to/from internal users to 10 MB.

2. Set Max send/receive message size to/from external users to 20 MB.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Good day all,

I am trying to activate Recipient filtering on my Exchange Edge 2013 server by using the manual below:

rcpt to:<nouser@domain.com>
250 2.1.5 Recipient OK

Enable spoofing check on receive connector

I wanted to enable mail address spoofing check on my receive connector. So I used:

Get-ReceiveConnector 'default frontend SRV-EX' | Remove-ADPermission -User 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON' -ExtendedRights Ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Sender

It write to me error: cannot remove ace on object because it is not present. But when I check extended right Ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Sender permission is missing on connector.

After that I trying to use telnet and send message (f.e. MAIL FROM: asdasd@sdafsdf.com) and this message is successfully delivered to my mailbox. Then I check extended rights on connector again and see Ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Sender permission appeared there.

How can I totally remove it? What cause this behaviour?

Encrypted email and contact group

$

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to send an encrypted email to a contact group address?

I'm still trying to figure out how email encryption works. As I understand it,

A. Recipient of encrypted mails
1. Sends out a public key in the form of a digital certificate, which also represents his/her identity as the recipient of encrypted mails.
2. Keeps the private key.

B. Sender of encrypted mails
1. Encrypts the message using the public key in the digital certificate received from A above
2. Sends the encrypted message to A.

Now, is it possible for A to be a contact group, instead of an active directory user?

We are deploying Exchange 2013, and have an AD CS server for issuing certificates within our private network.

Regards,
Jon

Add signature before replied email text block

$

Currently, my company email's signature is handled by mail flow rules in Exchange Online. My question is, is it possible to put the signature between our message and the block for replied messages? Since with long email trails, the signatures would end up at the bottom of the email, and if someone needs to know the details of a particular sender, they would need to scroll all the way down searching through a bunch of signatures for the one they need. Changing the replied messages block isn't an option, for legal purposes (preserving evidence).

I hope I explained this right, since this is a question from a staff (a legal manager for my company). Also, if someone made a thread about this, please direct me to it.

Thanks in advance.

User getting bulk emails at 10 PM

There is a user whose mailbox seems to receive 200 or so emails in the night.
The emails were sent during the day but he received those only at 10 PM. These 200 emails end up in the "deleted Items" folder instead of the inbox.

We have one frontend CAS server and 2 mailbox servers (1 active mailbox + 1 archive store).
I have analysed the message header of one of these messages and it seems the message creation time was 10:36 PM and message received 2 seconds later in the problem mailbox.

There are no transport rules configured for the mailbox.
Desktop guys advise me that there are no outlook rules configured on users outlook either.

Desktop guys sent a test message tot he user and he received the message straight away.

And the email that i looked at was a internal email. So from one user to another user in the same organisation.
So it does not hi the front end CAS server. Please advise what else can I check.

Receiving Microsoft outlook on behalf of Emails that go directly to Deleted Items folder

I have a user that joined the company earlier this year. She sends out a lot of meeting planner requests.  Ever since she started she has been receiving a ton of Emails that read "Microsoft Outlook on behalf of" XXXuser. The users are varied but they are all part of the same group that she has sent the meeting request to.  They all come at the same time and they automatically get pushed into deleted items folder.

The only thing I have been able to find out is that the time she receives these message coincide with the time of day that my exchange server was rebooted.  For instance I just installed CU10 and rebooted the server at about 5pm and that is when her messages are coming.

I have no idea what is causing this and not really sure where to look. She is the only person in my company who is experiencing this.. Can someone please shed some light on this..She has no rules set up and we have an onsite exchange Server not Office 365.

Thanks

Email Routing For Users on Office 365

$

Hi.

I have the following setup & scenario in my environment:

3 x Exchange Server 2010 w/SP3; 1 x mailbox role, 1 x CA/Hub role + 1 x edge role.

I have a set of about 50 users on linked mailbox (on a specific domain e.g. xxx.com) who have moved out to Office 365 platform.

I need to keep their existing mailbox for specific duration due to compliance requirements.

I'm facing an issue where emails sent by my other Exchange users to this set of users (xxx.com) is still being sent to the existing internal mailbox rather then to their Office 365 mailbox.

How can I resolve this permanently?

For now, I have set a transport rule for every single mailbox to send a copy of the email to Office 365 mailbox.

Appreciate if someone can guide me through a permanent solution, as I'm wondering how would the routing work once these mailboxes have been removed.

Regards,
