OWA Error: You do not permissions to perform this task.

Hi, I have installed and configured MS Exchange 2013 server with SP1 and CU9 on MS Windows 2012 R2 server. The server is an additional domain controller (There are two more domain controllers including one DC) and has local DNS as well. Exchange server holds both the roles in single box. DNS lookup is configured with local DNS and SmarthHost is being used for outbound emails. The POP3 and IMAP clients are fine but having following two issues...

1. OWA clients are not able to send email. The email stuck in DRAFT folder. Got error message that "You do not have appropriate permissions to perform this task".

2. MS Outlook 2010 Exchange clients also have sending emails but their emails do not go in draft. The email exists from outlook and vanished. Means emails do not reach to recipients neither they queue up in system.

I shall be grateful for and earliest possible solution.

OutBound mail flow fails to send and stuck in query 451.4.4.0

Hello,

The test exchange server I'm trying to deploy passes all connectivity tests but is having trouble sending anything outbound. it can receive from the outside just fine. We've  already processed our reverse delegation DNS request through our ISP and it's up and running.

Mail just gets stuck in queue and keeps trying to retry with the 451.4.4.0 error encountered while communicating with primary target IP addresses then ends up failing to send with the header #550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired ##

Mail between domain after O365 migration and dirsync

$

Hello,

I have a multi domain exchange 2013. One of the domains was migrated to office 365 and mailboxes and domain was removed from the exchange.

The synchronization is filtered down to the OU where the migrated users are. They only have proxy address and mail attribute.

Now users that are still on the on-prem exchange are unable to send mail to the domain that was migrated to Office 365 with the following error:

Remote Server returned '420 4.2.0 Recipient deferred because there is no Mdb'

I tried setting the migrated domain back into the exchange server as an external relay domain but that did not work. The on-prem exchange is still looking for the mailboxes in its DB.

The exchange is not in hybrid mode.

Any ideas on how I can sidestep this?

Thanks in advance,

Haukur

Exchange 2013 and 2010 coexistence mail flow issue

I have an exchange 2010 environment where 2013 was introduced for migration and upgradation. Both the servers are in the same subnet. While testing the mail flow between the environment:

- Mails from 2013 mailbox are getting delivered to 2010 mailbox and to external email(gmail etc..)

-Mails sent to 2013 mailbox(irrespective of the source mailbox-2010 or external) are NOT getting delivered to the inbox.

While troubleshooting and tracking i found following things:

1. The mails with 2013 mailbox as their destination are stuck in the retry queue of 2010 hub server(i.e the mails are reaching in the environment)

2. message tracking logs show message as received whereas it is not.

3. i checked the anonymous user in the default receive connector of 2013, but it did not help

4. dns settings and nslookup are all fine.

what could be the possible reason for such a behaviour on exchange 2013 or 2010.

Hi,

My MX records are pointing to my Barracuda 1 and Barracuda 2

and

Barracuda 1 points to EDGE 1
Barracuda 2 points to EDGE 2

I am using Hardware Load Balancer for Exchange 2013 CAS Servers and there is Virtual IP where all other traffic will be routed.  In cut Over exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, I am planning not to use EDGE servers anymore, So Both Barracuda will be pointed to that Virtual IP of LB on port 2.

Hi There

We're running on an Exchange 2013 server. When users get a NDR (look OK at this time), but when forwarding the NDR to system admin, they get garbled into Chinese (or what looks like Chinese). Any ideas on solving this ?

migration Lotus Notes to Exchange, how to migrate confidential emails (in LN encrypted)

$

Hi,

we're investigating a migration of Lotus Notes to Exchange. One issue is the migration of encrypted mail. How to keep them confidential in Exchange?

We have users like a secretary that has read/write access to a mailbox of a manager. If another user mails the manager with confidential information, he encrypts it in LN before sending it, so only the mailbox owner can open the message. Is this possible in Exchange 2013 and in Exchange online? Heard that you can set things via IRM, but that with Outlook web access the secretary can set the manager's mailbox as primary and than will be able to open the confidential email....

best regards,

Hans

We see messages in queue on Exchange 2013 edge server with 451 4.4.0 error and can not figure it out why they dont go thru

We have tried solving it going on Exchange 2013 FRONTEND under send connectors.
We have choosen there send connector EDGESYNC - from SITE to INTERNET and marking: Use the External DNS lookup settings on the transport server.
And restarting transport service on Exchange2013, but the problem remains the same.

Emails to large Distribution Group are not recieved

$

Recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013.  A large distribution group (about 1200 entries) is sent email once or twice a week.  All members of this distribution group are contacts with external email addresses.  After the migration emails to this group no longer go through.  Looking in the message tracking logs, I can see messages to this distribution group are flagged as "TRANSFERRED".  Internal mailboxes that are also on these emails receive them without issue.  Apart from that no information in available.

No NDRs are received.

I turned on verbose logging on the send connector via the EMC in hopes to get a better handle on where these emails actually go, but I did not find anything.  It is not clear to me where this might be logged in any case, so I may not have found the correct log or need to turn on more logging (maybe via PowerShell?)

Also set some message restrictions settings to allow up to 1500 recipients in case that was the issue.

As a test today I sent emails to contacts directly (without specifying the distribution group) and they went through fine up to about 700 at once.  I should have another email to send to the entire group later this week.  I have contacted the our 3rd party spam vendor who says that this message is never received by them.  It appears that Exchange gets the email directed to the group and then just ... drops it?

There must be a log somewhere to tell me why distribution group members never get the email because it appears it never leaves the Exchange Server.

Delivery report shows status of Pending for external address. Email sent to both internal and external addresses.

We have an Exchange 2013 on-premise server and seem to have an issue with emails sent to internal and external users at the same time.

The issue came to light because someone sent an email to 44 recipients, of which one was internal. None of the external recipients received the email. I checked the delivery report in the EAC and found the internal email marked as 'Delivered' and all of the external ones marked as 'Pending'. I checked the queues and there were none. I did some testing and sent an email to just one of the external addresses on the list, it arrived. I tried sending the email again to all of the recipients, the external ones all showed 'Pending'. I tried it again, but this time excluded the internal email address and all of the 43 external emails were immediately delivered.

So it seems that the issue only arises when we are sending to both internal and external addresses.

I then tried a test email to one internal address and one external address. The Delivery report says that the internal address was delivered immediately, while the external address is 'Pending' and gives more information saying: 'Message delivery is taking longer than expected. There may be system delays. For more information, contact your helpdesk.'. To add further mystery to this, the email was actually delivered.

So, I have two concerns:

First is seems that some emails sent both internally and externally are only arriving internally. This is a huge problem because I don't know how many have been affected. There may be many lost emails we don't know about.

Second, it looks like I can't trust the delivery report. It says pending for some emails which didn't arrive, but it also says pending for some which did arrive. That is no good at all.

For info the server is running Windows Server 2012. I have run a Microsoft Update to check if there are any to apply and the only Exchange one is a spam filter update, which I doubt has any bearing but I will apply when I get chance.

chnage the Exchnage 2013 Message attachment size

$

Dear all ,

we want is to allow 15 MB attachment size and 20 MB message size for all users except  one group who need 45 MB attachment size and 60 MB message size for both internal & external communication.

what i have done is the blow :

Organization transport settings - 100 MB

Rule is 'If the message...The message size is larger than or equal to '20 MB (20,971,520 bytes)'
and has an attachment that's larger than or equal to '15 MB (15,728,640 bytes)'
Do the following...reject the message and include the explanation 'Message / Attachment size exceeds limit' with the status code: '5.7.1'

'user mailbox -> mailbox features -> Message Size Restrictions' - 60 MB

and still have problem with attachment

please let me know what i need to remove or tune on the above to fix the issue .

Hi All,

I've recently installed EX2013 and when I tested mailflow I can send mail into our EX2013 mailboxes but for some reason I

18/01/2016 10:56:35 - Remote Server at gmail.com (2404:6800:4008:c01::1a) returned '550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired'
18/01/2016 10:43:01 - Remote Server at gmail.com (2404:6800:4008:c01::1a) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10065, Win32 error code: 10065." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 2404:6800:4008:c01::1a:25'

Any help will be greatly appreciated it.

Thank you.

When I open my outlook.com account, this pops up and says it needs a password and is not updating my emails. I did recently change my password, but why would outlook be using a Hotmail account to get my password?   is this  snt405-m.hotmail.com  right or some scam?

ARR 3.0 vs 2.5

$

I just transitioned my network from Windows Server 2012 Essentials to Windows Server 2012 r2 Essentials. While following the directions to integrate my email system back into the environment I accidentally installed ARR 3.0 instead of 2.5.

My questions are:

1. Can I install both versions in tandem, or is there a way to uninstall 3.0 and install 2.5?

2. If I cannot install 3.0 then what steps must I take to get reverse proxy working correctly as it should so my users can access their email through the mail.mynetwork.net link they are configured for?

3. Am I totally hosed here?

Thanks in advance for your assistance and attention.

Hi,

I have requirement of providing grant right permissions for a mail box account using power shell script. Below was the code I am using

Import-PSSession $Session

Add-RecipientPermission "domainname\xxxxx" -AccessRights SendAs -Trustee "domainname\yyyyy"

I am getting below error

Add-RecipientPermission : The term 'Add-RecipientPermission' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or
operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

Maximum Recipients When Sending From a Distribution Group Address

$

We have the maximum number of recipients set to 30 to discourage spamming but we sometimes make exceptions for higher profile users. This usually works no problem to bypass the 30 recipient restriction on a per user basis but we recently ran into a situation where a user needed to send as a distribution group and although the user had the max set higher, when sending from the distribution group address, it still failed stating that there were too many recipients until I change the organizational setting. Is there any way to allow a user to send to more than the organizational setting when sending as a distribution group address? Thank you in advance for your time!
