Exchange 2013 TransportRoles\Data\Temp filling up disk

$

I have a single multi-role Exchange 2013 server and it would appear that it's not properly maintaining the temp files for the transport service.  I still have all those folder locations at their default and the problem folder is c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Temp

I never had a problem with this in Exchange 2007 but I am used to running a PowerShell script nightly to clean up the IIS log files.  Do I need to do something similar for this temp folder?  Is there a setting I can adjust so that Exchange will limit the size of this folder itself?  If I stop the transport service and delete the files here will I lose anything?

Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2013 recipient and sender limits

I have locally installed an exchange server 2013 and have come across a problem that I need some advice on how to resolve if possible.  We need to regularly send out emails to a membership with over 1500 contacts and have found that we can only send out 5 emails at a time and need to wait 30 seconds before sending out another 5 emails. The email attachments are on 30K in size so I'm not sure if this assists in understanding the problem.  I have been searching and found lots of articles relating to 365 and the limits set on recipients and sender limits and need to know if that affects the standard 2013 release as well.  Given that its a local install can I change these limits to allow the mail to flow as it used to in the older versions and if so how?  Any advice would be appreciated?

Missing emails. Get this message in Delivery Reports. QUEUE.TransportAgent; message deleted by transport agent

Hello everyone.

We had a very weird error this morning on our Exchange 2013.

We were not able to receive email from outside, but we were able to send to the outside.

I was doing some testing with an outside account and I noticed that when I sent an email from outside(google) to the exchange, in the Delivery Report, you can see the email but at the bottom there was a message saying.

The message couldn't be delivered.

550 4.3.2 QUEUE.TransportAgent; message deleted by transport agent

The message never reached my mailbox.

We rebooted the server and the mail started to flow, but all those test email and of course the real email that was coming in at that time is lost.

Does anybody know what this could be?

Any guidance will be great. Thanks in advance.

Jack.

Adding SMTP Relay IP Addresses and Networks on Exchange 2010

$

Hello All,

I am new to Exchange 2010, and have a few questions.  I successfully migrated all users' E2003 mailboxes to E2010.

I want to start moving all the dependencies over from E2003 to E2010 such as SMTP relay.  We are using a 3rd party external spam filtering service to relay good\safe email to our Exchange server.

As everyone knows, in E2003, we can add trusted IP Hosts\Networks via the SMTP VS connector.  But in E2010, it does not use the IIS-SMTP service to make this happen.  It uses the "ReceiveConnector" and "SendConnector".  Given that our 3rd part spam service sends up a list of IP Hosts\Networks for relaying, is it safe to assume the following per the MS instructions:

1.  Add an additional IP address to the E2010 server (Is this as simple as adding another IP on the LAN interface?)

2. How do you specify "networks" for the "-RemoteIPRanges" parameter?  Would I do the following:

New-ReceiveConnector -Name RelayConnector -usage Custom -Bindings ’Additonal-IP-For-E2010:25′ -fqdn e2010.company.com -RemoteIPRanges 192.168.1.100 255.255.255.0 -serverex2010 -permissiongroups AnonymousUsers

Get-ReceiveConnector RelayConnector | Add-ADPermission -User “NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON” -ExtendedRights “ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient”

3.  Is #2 is true, and I have let's say 12 networks to add as SMTP Relay networks, do I have to execute the above commands 12 times?

4.  This is probably off topic but is there any documentation that has instructions on how to remove an E2003 server from the Organization to only have the E2010 server?

Any help would fantastic!

Thanks guys!

Delayed Sending Mail Exchange 2013

Hi,

I have recently setup a new Exchange 2013 system, I have having large delays and failure to send mail to the outside world. The setup is,

2 x Hub and 2 x Mailbox (in a DAG)

The delayed messages I am getting back is as follows,

Remote Server at KLA-SVR-EXHUB2.CAT.internal (10.0.XX.XX) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
09/08/2013 18:44:46 - Remote Server at KLA-SVR-EXHUB2.CAT.internal (10.0.XX.XX) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary outbound frontend IP address: "421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to TimedOut." Attempted failover to alternate frontend, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate frontend addresses, or delivery failed to all alternate frontend addresses. The last endpoint attempted was 10.0.XX.XX:717'

I have checked and changed the DNS settings on the server to ensure they can ping the outside world, I have ran a reverse lookup, I do still have an issue with the SMTP banner not matching.

Thanks in advance for any help

Exchange Not Receiving Email From Outside Domains Only Within

I created a system state backup before I edited anything. I removed a legacy Exchange 2003 because I needed to create an Email Address Policy in our Exchange 2010. I deleted remnants from exch 03 on ADSI, but now domainA can only receive email from its own domain, and not from a second domain in the same organization, different subnet, or outside (gmail, etc).

Seems like email was being routed through exchange 2003. That server is still online since it has dc, dhcp, dns. It was configured this way before my time.

I restored the system state back but it didn't bring the ADSI configuration back before deleting exch 2003 remnants. I did take a snapshot and did an outline before deleting, and tried building it back but no use.

Any suggestions?

Hello!

We just finished the Migration of our public Folders from 2010 to 2013.
Now, if a user sends an E-Mail as the public Folder the message just hangs in the outgoing Folder in Outlook and nothing happens.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong?

Thank you all for reading and for the possible help! ;-)

best regards
Jürgen

[EDIT]

We get this error log every time a users tries to send as public Folder:

Hello

My Setup

Server01: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 Standard (MBX+CAS)

Server02: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 Standard (MBX+CAS)

No DAG Yet!

I have created a Send Connector(Smart Host) but when I try to send mail from Outlook 2013 It will be in the Send Folder, but when I take a look in the Queue Viewer it shows up there with Status Ready and Queue ID 39, What can be the problem?

port 25 Outbound is opened in the Firewall so I really don't get what the problem can be.

Hope someone can help me and give some Professional tips on this.

Thank You and have a nice day

Exchange Server 2013 Email Performance with Rules

$

Hi All,

I noticed that in Exchange Server 2013 Sending & Receiving Emails with Transport Rules applied to these emails are Slower than Exchange 2007.

The Environment was Exchange 2007 with latest Updates and Service Packs and Internal Emails usually takes 5 Seconds Maximum to be Received but when upgraded to Exchange 2013 Internal Emails Exactly now takes 20-22 Seconds to be Received .

How i can increase the performance of the emails to be the same as before?

Thanks.

Exchange 2010 - manage IP allow List provider - whitelisting IP addresses

$

We are running a single Exchange 2010 server behind a TMG 2010 firewall.

A user is trying to use Mailchimp (an email marketing campaigns service) to send e-mails to external and internal recipients.

E-mails sent to internal users are not received as Exchange blocks e-mails that have sender addresses containing our own domain. The solution seems to be to setup an "IP Allow List Providers" on Exchange but I don't find a way of adding any allowed IP addresses on EMC > Organisation Configuration > Hub Transport > IP Allow List Providers.
These are the IP addresses I am trying to add: http://mailchimp.com/about/ips/
The only options seem to be Provider name & Lookup domain.

Can someone also explain what the lookup domain option is supposed to be?

Many thanks

Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2007 migration unable to send mail to Exchange 2007

I have a Windows Server 2012 Server with Exchange 2013 CU2, Revision 2.

I can send mail from Exchange 2013 to users on Exchange 2013, I can send mail from Exchange 2013 to people on the Internet.

I can send mail from Exchange 2007 to users on Exchange 2007, I can send mail from Exchange 2007 to users on Exchange 2013, I can send mail from Exchange 2007 to the Internet.

I cannot send mail from Exchange 2013 users to Exchange 2007 users.  The message is stuck in SMTP Relay to Mailbox Delivery Group, and it receives a 421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to socket error.

I have verified that there are MX records for each server in the domain.  The two servers are next to one another and connected to the same Gigabit switch.

Looking at the receive connector logs it gets to passing the allowed forms of Authentication, the Exchange 2013 server sends back X-ANONYMOUSTLS - the Exchange 2007 server passes the certificate, last line shows - LOCAL and that is all. I can see 3 attempts in the log during each retry to send the mail from Exchange 2013.

I have tried to enable Verbose logging on the Exchange 2013 Send connector, and have not been able to see a log created for this delivery from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2007.

Exchange 2013, has been upgraded to CU1, CU2, and CU2 Revision 2. Exchange 2007 has the latest SP and updates.

I created a self signed certificate and assigned that to SMTP on Exchange 2013 in case it did not like one of the names of that server being missing from the Certificate created during install.  That did not help.

Emails not forwarding

$

I have recently been trying to forward email from an internal account to a different internal account with no success. I have a very simple, single server Exchange 2010 setup, recently migrated from 2003 and with 2003 still up and part of the organization. The mailboxes in question are all on the 2010 box. I used the Mail Flow Settings >>> Delivery Options to check the Forward to: box and browse for the recipient. I tried two different addresses, but no luck. I restarted the Information Store and Transport service thinking that might be the issue, but no luck. What could be the issue?

The user whose email I am forwarding is in one child domain and I am forwarding the email to a user in another child domain, of course with two-way trusts, etc... I can't find any error messages or anything. It just doesn't work. Any ideas?

Currently we have a destination configured for journaling that goes to an exchange contact.  I was curious to know how I would go about accomplishing parallel testing with another vendor.  Can i point the journaling"contact" to a distribution list that has both addresses configured?

Spoofed email Exchange 2013

$

I am banging my head against the wall here.

Since a few days, I am getting emails that are addressed from myself and addressed to me. Now obviously this is comming from some spammer, so I decided to do a search or two to fix this.

Now IMHO allowing anyone to send as a local user is a big security issue. Any smart user could simply telnet into the local smtp server and send an email using any local user ! No idea why this is the default behaviour for Exchange, but quite frankly, if you claim you are a local user, you authenticate to prove it !

My search netted me with three suggestions, none of them work:

1) remove ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Sender for anonymous users on the receive connector

2) remove ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender for anonymous users on the receive connector

3) enable Sender-ID validation on the receive connector, with a corresponding TXT (SPF) record in DNS.

Even with all three of these in place, I am fully able to enter a local user in the mail from field on the SMTP server.

Now Certainly there must be a way to prevent this from happening ?

Exchange 2013 cu2 Setup - transport server listening only on localhost

Hello, this morning I've launched the Cu2 setup on my Exchange 2103 Cu1 Server (single server on W2012).

The prereq check told me that I had to remove non-US language packs, so I canceled the setup.

I restarted the transport service. About 30 minutes later, users started reporting that the mail flow was broken: we couldn't receive or send mail.

After some checks, I discovered that the server is no longer accepting connection on port tcp 25 and the only queue visible in queue manager is the submission queue.

Trying to telnet exchange server on port 25 tcp fails, the server immediately closes the connection.

I don't know how to restore the transport server functionality.
