Distribution Group - Mail Flow Issue

$

Dear Folks,

we are running Exchange 2010 with Hybrid Setup. We are currently facing an issue with Exchange online users. there is an on premises mailbox, let's say abc-user@domain.com > any email that is received to this on premises mailbox abc-user@domain.com it is forwarded to a distribution group; let's say xyz-group@domain.com. when an Exchange Online user send email to abc-user@domain.com > Exchange online user gets following error message.

"Your message can't be delivered because delivery to this address is restricted.

#550 5.7.1 RESOLVER.RST.AuthRequired; authentication required ##rfc822;"

Note: Distribution Group has this check enabled and we can't remove that "Require that all senders are authenticated"while there are only few users who are getting NDR/ error message while other Exchange online users are able to send email to on premises mailbox, abc-user@domain.com and email is getting forwarded to distribution group xyz-group@domain.com

please assist on this.

Thanks, Sheeraz

Message Delivery Restrictions on nested groups

Hi,

I have a Distribution list "DL1" that is restricted in who can send to it. Presently external user "UserX" can send to this DL1.

The Distribution list "DL1" also has other Distribution lists as members.

Do I need to also allow UserX to send to the member Distribution lists - even though UserX does not send to these nested DL's directly?

It seems to me that the nested DL's must also allow UserX to send to it (if restricted) -  but I can't find any MS documentation to confirm.

Can anybody please shed some light to confirm or deny this requirement for nested DL's.

Many thanks

Connection Filtering agent doesn't work

I have installed the Connection Filtering agent:

Install-TransportAgent -Name "Connection Filtering Agent" -TransportService FrontEnd -TransportAgentFactory"Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.ConnectionFiltering.ConnectionFilteringAgentFactory" -AssemblyPath "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\agents\Hygiene\Microsoft.Exchange.Transport.Agent.Hygiene.dll"

Add-IPBlockListProvider -Name zen.spamhaus.org -LookupDomain zen.spamhaus.org -AnyMatch $true -Enabled $true

Enable-TransportAgent -TransportService FrontEnd -Identity "Connection Filtering Agent"

Restart-Service MSExchangeFrontEndTransport

After this, it doesn't work. Email from ip addresses marked as blacklisted (as can be seen by test-ipblocklistprovider) aren't blocked. Besides, no logging is created in “C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs\FrontEnd\AgentLog”

Get-AgentLog -TransportService Frontend gives a warning: WARNING: An unexpected error has occurred and a Watson dump is being generated: Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.

Specified cast is not valid.

Transport Rules for Outgoing

We are testing the prepending transport rule action to add a string on inbound messages from outside the organization. When replying to the email the prepended text stays in the reply. How can we remove the string when the message has a reply sent.  The prepended text should be for internal eyes only.

Hybrid mail flow

Hello

I am running Exchange 2013 CU10 on-prem. I have 5 CA servers and 5 MBX servers. Currently we send all email  from on-prem through EOP, and EOP accepts all smtp email for our accepted domains, and then forwards the email down to our on-prem servers. Currently we have 5 unique NAT rules from EOP to our on-prem CAS servers. Example. When running the hybrid config wizard one of the things the wizard asks for is the FQDN name for mail from O365 to on-prem. Example "smtp.mydomain.com". As I mentioned before, I am using individual  NAT for mail from EOP to on-prem. If I want to continue using the existing NAT rules that I currently have, would I need to create 5 external DNS records for "smtp.mydomain.com" that map to the external IP address for each NAT rule?  Is this a preferred solution vs. using a load balancer between EOP and on-prem for hybrid mail flow?

Example

"smtp.mydomain.com" maps to 12.5.6.2

"smtp.mydomain.com" maps to 12.5.6.1

NAT rule 1 EOP----->12.5.6.2---->NAT----->onpremCAS1

NAT rule 2 EOP----->12.5.6.1----->NAT------>onpremCAS2

ect

ect

Schedule incoming mail delivery

Hi,

maybe someone there can help me with this.

I need to schedule incoming mail delivery to a specific distribution group.

I need all mail sent to that group be delivered to group members at same time, all mails at the same time.

Transport rules won't help because I can't specify delivery time as an action.

Anyone know if this can be done?

Thanks in advance

Dear Microsoft Support,

I ask for help in the forum because I have tried all the method in Google.

I have Exchange 2013 CU8 DAG with 4 members. Each Exchange server has 4 databases running. The Cxo_db database has index failure on the 3 passive members but on the active member everything is OK. Just to high light on the same server on other three database replication and index are working.

The error is below:

Exchange 2010 message limits

$

I have an issue with message size limits in Exchange 2010 as follows:

When I send a message with an attachment size greater than 10MB I get the following bounce message:

"This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason. Your message is larger than the destination computer is willing to accept, so it was returned. Size of this message 22385880 bytes. Server maximum size 10485760 bytes."

I have set the limits on the server using exchange shell as follows:

1. Organizational limits - I have modified the organizational message size limits using theSet-TransportConfig cmdlet from the Exchange shell as follows: Set-TransportConfig -MaxReceiveSize 40MB -MaxSendSize 40MB

2. Receive Connector limit - Set-ReceiveConnector “CONNECTOR NAME” -MaxMessageSize 40Mb

3. Recipient limit - Set-Mailbox “Joe Adams” -MaxSendSize 40Mb -MaxReceiveSize 40Mb

Is there another place I am forgetting about where the server is limited to the maximum size of 10485760 bytes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

A mixed Org. (2007/2013) and a site Dallas and site Texas with some Exchange 2007 and one Exchange 2013 Server per site.

My Problem is, when I set the Exchange 2013 in Texas in Maintenance Mode, here at Dallas queues arise to the Texas site. Even after some time the queues didn't reduce. I thought the Exchange 2013/2007 Server in Dallas will then try to connect to the remaining exchange 2007 Server in Texas, but that isn't the case, due to that I bring the Server back to online and then queues will be cleared.

Does anybody have an idea to fix that issue?

Thanks a lot.

Block Top Level Domain (.eu)

I'm trying to configure a transport rule in Exchange 2013 to block all emails from the TLD .eu   We get nothing but a TON of spam that is not caught by the Exchange 2013 spam filter, and it's always from a different domain. I have seen guides for 2007 and 2010, but nothing for 2013.

Do I just use the rule "The sender domain is" and use the value ".eu"? I just want to verify this is the correct way to block a TLD.

Exchange and SPF record

Hi all,

we are in the plans of implementing SPF record for our domains. Currently we have 10 accepted domains in our Exchange (domainA-domainJ).

Our mail route for Incoming is the following:

Internet-Spamfilter(3rd part provider)-ExchangeOnPrem-ExchangeOnline

Outgoing
ExchangeOnline-Internet

We have internal system that is also sending mail using relay of On-Prem Exchange

ExchangeonPrem-ExchangeOnline-Internet

We have also external system (outside corporate network)that is sending out mail using 3rd party system. It is sending using ourxx@domain.com as FROM address.

As far as I understand, our SPF record should look like this:

v=spf1 mx a ip4:222.222.211.211 a:server1.domain.com include:server2.domain.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all

Where 222.222.211.211 is external IP of our OnPrem Exchange server and server1/2.domain.com is external systems relaying.

Is it correct to use this record for all our accepted domains?

Thanks!

p.s.

Been trying to post this in Exchange Online forum, but no response yet since last week. So I'm trying here since reply is usually faster :)

Transport Rule to restrict Character Limit to Specific Domain.

Hello

What we want to do is restrict the content of emails sent to our Text\SMS delivery Domain to stop one email being coverted into 3,4,5 or more texts.

The Character Limit for a Single SMS is 160, I cant see any way of doing this using a Transport Rule ("Where the Recipient Domain is SMSDomain.com), or DLP.

Has anyone written a custom Transport Agent or Rule that has achieved this or similar?

We have looked at using the Disclaimer to Prepend or Append an **EOM** string, but we really want to configure a hard Character Limit.

NOTE: The Message must still be delivered , just only the first 160 Characters.

Thanks
