Linking DLP and MRM together

$

Is it possible to link DLP and MRM features in Exchange 2013?

I cannot find any documentation that confirms whether or not it is possible to create a DLP policy which will categorise an email, and then automatically apply a retention tag to it based on this classification?

Does anyone have any thought as to if this can be achieved, and if so how?

How to add exceptions for Sender Filtering in Exchange 2013 Edge

$

hi everyone.

got a bit of a problem.

I've installed 2 exchange 2013 servers. one for Mailbox-CAS (Hub) & one as Edge Server.

I've configured Blocked domains for blocking my users from sending emails to public mail servers such as Hotmail, google & yahoo and I've set up some users as exceptions (such as CEO & managers).

I wanna configure my Edge server to block inbound email from such servers as well & have to set some exclusions.

as I searched online, the command would be "set-senderfilterconfig -blockeddomainsandsubdomains"

but I can't use -Bypassed switch as I do in Content Filtering.

now my question is am I using the right method (commands & stuff) to reach my goal?

also how I set some users as exceptions?

thanks in advance

SMTP Open Relay on Exchange 2013

Hi,

I'm getting exhausted with my new Exchange 2013, I Installed it as CAS and Mailbox role on a new server, everything is fine, it was integrated well with my DC, publish it on Internet (MX pointing), people also can send/receive email, but the problem is the SPAM, i checked my server at mxtoolbox.com and I found the the SMTP Open Relay - May be an open relay.  I test telnet from outside to my exchange server using port 25, and I found this message:

220 xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Wed,  12 Nov 2014 00:22:13 +0700

then I try to configure POP configuration in outlook client and SMTP server using the Port 25, and it can send email, and now google start blocking our domain, I tried to find any article regarding this issue, but couldn't find the solution

fyi, the receive connector is still default and only add the send connector using the microsoft reference.

anyone can help me? pls.  can I block the Port 25? tried it already, the email from other external domain is stop coming.

thx

Break between sending Mails

Hello

Some of our Users need to send emails to about 30+ Contacts. The E-Mail contacts of this list often change. Therefore we decided to use the group functionality of Outlook that the users can edit their groups and send them Mails.

If they send a group with for example about 40 Contacts an e-mail message, is there any break between the e-mail sendings? Does Outlook send all 40 Mails together? Where can i see these settings in Exchange?

Messages from/to internal users going to Outlook's Junk folder (Outlook 2013, Exchange 2013 on-premise/cloud)?

$

I have a strange issue in my environment where some random messages from/to internal users are going to a user's junk folder.

Environment: Exchange 2013 (on premise), Exchange Online (hybrid), Outlook 2013

User A (on premise exchange mailbox) sends message to User B (on cloud). User B is running Outlook 2013 in cached mode (since their mailbox is in the cloud for best performance). Message from User A goes to User B's Outlook junk folder and both the sender/recipient are within the same organization / email domain!

What is more interesting, this is 1 message that got filtered, other messages from User A to User B get delivered to Inbox.

What can i do to Exchange 2013 on premise and cloud so that messages within the organization never go to Junk without disabling the Junk Folder on the User B's cached mode Outlook.

I tried to set a rule on both on premise/cloud Exchange to apply a SCL of -1 for messages sent from/to "Inside the Organization" and I see in the message header a SCL of -1 but the message is still junked.

Why is this? I want to bypass filtering for internal user to user messaging, or internal automated reports that use on premise exchange server as a relay.

Exchange 2007, EHLO/HELO

$

Hello all-

We have a few domains we send email to that get delayed and then fail. During my research, when I telnet to these mail servers they only respond to HELO and not ELHO.  In checking my exchange logs I see that exchange is trying to connect with ELHO.

I am not sure what to do? Is there a way for exchange to try EHLO and if it fails try HELO?

Thanks

Hello,

I wonder if someone can steer me in the right direction on this please. I have a user who wishes to send a message with attachment that is 13Mb in size. I have been through what I believe to be all the settings concerned with message/ attachment sizes. This is what I have done/covered off so far:

At the Organisation Level

Get-Transportconfig

Max receive size is 20Mb
Max send size is 20Mb

There are no transport rules

Connector Limits

All receive connectors have a minimum of 35Mb

Send connector is set to 15Mb

AD site links cannot be being used as they have only one site

Any help greatly appreciated

Cross Site DAG causing Mail Loops

$

I am trying to set up a cross site DAG to add site resilience to our Exchange 2013 system (all build 995.29).

I have 2 servers at the primary site (Exchange 1 and 2) both running CAS and DAG roles. All of the mailboxes are currently stored on Exchange1. Exchange1 is also the only server with an internet send connector and the one that our MX record points to.

I'm trying to set up the DAG between Exchange2(primary site) and Exchange3 which is located in a different subnet at a different site. The DAG will create ok and I can add both servers to it.

The problem occurs after the servers are added to the DAG. for some reason a fraction of the emails end up getting stuck in a mail loop on Exchange2 eventually they time out and a non delivery receipt is sent to the user.

I've had to roll back the changes now to allow full flow of email again but need to know why creating a dag can stop mailflow between two servers.

Thanks in Advance

Setup Exchange to duplicate emails to my SMTP server.

$

Hello.

I am developing product to detect leakage of sensitive data from internal networks. Often comes out requirement to check company emails ruling by Exchange server. Already I have SMTP server which is integrated with main logic of analyze data and nothing more, so next step is to receive emails from Exchange server. But solution is much more complicated than I expect, maybe because I never had to work with Exchange before. So there is my issue:

There is a portable way, between different versions of Exchange servers and configurations, to setup them send duplicates of all (internal and maybe incoming) emails to this SMTP server?

Messages Hitting Rules

Hi,

I was wondering whether there was a way to find out using the Exchange Management Shell which Custom Rule a message hit.

I have a client with quite a few custom rules in place. They also have quite a few whitelisted domains. The message sender (in this question) is whitelisted and we are not sure which rule it is hitting for it to be stop and redirected. When I do a delivery report it only mentions : This message was sent to the recipient due to a rule set by your organization.

Is there a way to find out specifically which rule is being applied ?

Thanks

Support for TLS 1.2 over Exchange 2013 on Server 2012?

$
0
0

Greetings,

We're trying to roll out TLS 1.2 in our test environment and can't seem to get Exchange to work with the protocol.

We've been using this method to enable TLS 1.2 (and disable the other protocols - TLS1.0, SSL2.0, SSL3.0, PCT1.0): http://www.adminhorror.com/2011/10/enable-tls-11-and-tls-12-on-windows_1853.html

We originally tried using Exchange 2010 on 2008 R2, but then I ran across this article saying that it is not supported: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2709167/en-us

We've since tried to set it up with Exchange 2013 on Server 2012. Still no luck. The only time Exchange wants to work is when TLS1.0 is enabled.

I suspect that TLS1.1 and TLS 1.2 are also not supported on Exchange 2013, or that I'm changing the wrong registry keys, but I wanted to find confirmation. I've searched extensively and can't find any documentation leading me to believe one way or the other if it's supported.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My problem is with mail flow.   If I go into the Exchange 2013 toolbox and open the queue viewer I can see over a hundred messages stacking up.  What do I do to stop these errors?

Help trying to using exchange as a relay connector for multiple other domains

Hi all,

I'm hoping I might be able to find a little direction on here since this sort of thing is very new to me and I'm having to learn fast!

The situation is, Exchange Online doesn't allow 3rd party transport agents to be installed on it and so our transport agent solution won't work anymore for a number of our clients that are moving to Exchange Online.  Assuming they don't go with a hybrid setup (which allows routing through an on-premise exchange that we could still keep the transport agent on) the best option I can think of is using a cloud based mail transfer server, where the client can configure a send connector to route outbound email traffic through this which will have the transport agent installed.  We could tweak our transport agent to accept multiple email domains at once...etc.

Initially though we want to get a basic in-house test setup going where we are routing an online exchange account email through our other separate locally hosted exchange server which has our transport agent on, so nothing in the cloud yet.

A few questions on this:

- what are the settings I need to change on this exchange server to accept emails from the Exchange online account (completely different domain...etc)?

- what are the settings I need to change to allow the exchange server to just process the email normally but then route to the internet on to the intended recipients?

- do I have to create a specific separate external receive / send connectors for this vs mail sent from internal network?

- can I configure specific rules so that if I receive an email from @testb.com, then after processing (transport agent...etc) I send the email back to that server for it to route on, rather than our server being responsible for handling the sending / any bouncebacks?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Tom

How can I track all email sent from one particular user through powershell?

Went online and found a few commands like:

Get-MessageTrackingLog -Server servername -Start "11/17/2014 09:00:00" -End "11/17/2014 17:00:00" -Sender "user@domain"

Got back:

Get-MessageTrackingLog : The term 'Get-MessageTrackingLog' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script
file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct
and try again.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS TO TRACK EMAIL SENT FROM A PARTICULAR USER: Delivery reports in the EAC came up with absolutely nothing after entering the user mailbox and user

Any help would be appreciated - RJM

Hi,

we are using Exchange Online Protection to avoid spam and phishing but no great results regarding Brazilian spam. Can someone share some tips/ideas regarding the configuration?

I created a new post regarding our current environment and settings to E.O.P but we keep receiving a lot of spam and also users are complain that even reporting every day (using Outlook Report plug-in), the volume of spam cannot decrease.
