Exchange Server 2013 - Send E-Mail

$

I am very new to Exchange Server.  I managed to install 2013 and I can send e-mail on-premises with no problem.  When I follow what I believed to be the step-by-step instructions for connecting a Send Connector so I could send e-mail on-line I can't get it to work.  I set it up and try an e-mail and the e-mail just sits in the drafts folder forever (as in 2 days now).  I can't send any other e-mail now either.  They just sit in the drafts folder.

Finally I try to delete the on-line draft message and it won't delete.  I delete the Send Connector and the draft finally will delete after nearly 10 hours.  I can again send on-premises e-mail but nothing else.

Can someone be kind enough to step an old man through the exact process needed in order to set up and send and receive e-mail to the internet?

Greatly appreciated.

Sending Mail External Fails - Message in Queue

$

I have a new installation of Exchange 2013 in my network. I have a 3-node network, External, Perimiter (DMz), and Internal. This is confugured utilizing Microsoft Threat Management Gateway 2010. I have a split DNS infrastructure. My internal network has Active Directory and the DNS forwards requests to my Perimiter DNS server. My permiter DNS server forwards requests to Google PUblic DNS 8.8.8.8. This seemed to work a bit better than using my ISP DNS.

I can send email internally between users with no issues. I have created a Send connector as described in a MS article for all other domains. I'm seeing in my TMG firewall logs that the SMTP from the exchange server is not getting denied and it is resolving to gmail. This is the error in the NDR:

Remote Server at gmail.com (2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
12/29/2014 1:16:01 AM - Remote Server at gmail.com (2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051, Win32 error code: 10051." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 2a00:1450:4013:c01::1a:25'

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

MX record needs to have a valid PTR record

Is there any requirement that MX record needs to have a valid PTR record?

e.g. an MX record: mx.domain.com resolves 1.1.1.1 in addition the IP address(1.1.1.1) needs to have a PTR record that resolves back tomx.domain.com.

Thanks in advance.

Mail stuck in QUEUE after migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

After a migration from Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange server 2013, I turned off the Exchange 2010 Server to ensure mail flow continued before decommissioning it. Users are now getting a ‘Delayed Message’ bounce back when sending email. All mail is stuck in the queue of the Exchange 2013.

When I turned the Exchange 2010 back on again, mail flow was restored and the queue emptied. In testing, when I stopped the service “Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access”, on the Exchange 2010, the mail was again delayed and stuck in the queue on the Exchange 2013. I restarted that service and everything went back to normal again.

Is there a setting that I can’t see that I should have migrated? Thanks

Slow mail flow?

Hi all!

I installed Exchange 2013 CU1 on Server 2012. I have 2 2012 one for AD and one for Exchange. This is small enviroment, EX2013 has 8GB of RAM and 10 users on it. We recive around 150 mails per day and send about 100 mails per day so this is very low resource usage...

When we were on exchange 2010 SP3, when I sent mail to gmail account which is configured to send mail back to me it all took around 10 seconds tops!

Now it takes waaay more, see attached image....

Any idea why it is so slow?

Regards,

Greg

Configure Receiving/Sending Mail on alternate port Exchange 2013

$

My ISP blocks port 25. I have good service and not looking to switch to commercial just yet. I also have a Mail reflector with my domain registrar that forwards all mail to my domain to a port I specify.

I'm trying to configure my exchange setup to receive mail on an alternate port as well as send mail to external domains on an alternate port. I have installed an Edge Transport in my DMZ and it created the two send connectors. Running a Get-SendConnector -Identity"connector" |fl Port shows that the EdgeSync send connector is indeed on port 25. Internal mail is delivered fine, and I see on my firewall logs that email was resolving to google and going out on port 25, but since my ISP blocks it it wasn't being delivered.

The default receive connectors are all there and are:

Client Frontend "mailboxserver" | FrontendTransport
Client Proxy "mailboxserver" | HubTransport
Default Frontend "mailboxserver" | Frontend Transport
Default "mailboxserver" | HubTransport
Outbound Proxy Frontend "mailboxserver" | Frontend Transport

Any help to configure this would be appreciated.

Connection refused on port 25

Hello everyone!

I have a server that is running MS Windows Server 2012R2 and MS Exchange 2013 only CAS role. During last couple of weeks I have my server failed to receive a messages from outside.

When I'm trying to telnet on ipv6 port 25, I get normal answer
220 ex2013cas01.example.net Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Sun, 4 Jan 2015 00:05:52 +0300‏

But if I telnet on ipv4 port 25, I get connection refused message.

To get SMTP works again I need to restart MSExchangeFrontEndTransport service. Even after an update to CU7 problem is still exist.

Is there any way to solve that?

Authentication e-mail from OneDrive is not delivered to Exchange 2010

Hi there!

Several months I have a problem with delivering authentication emails from OneDrive to my Exchange 2010 users.

On my Exchange 2010 SP3 RU8 (RU8 will be uninstalled today, but that issue was in previous versions too), I have installed AntispamAgents:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201691(v=exchg.150).aspx

Behavior of delivering OneDrive's messages is directly connected to Sender ID property in Organization Configuration -> Hub Transport -> Anti-spam tab -> Sender ID -> Action tab. If I choose "Reject message" what is my desired setup - I believe that SPF is very useful - any message from OneDrive is not delivered. In the Agent log appears that error:

550 5.7.1 Sender ID (PRA) Not Permitted

on particular message.

I have opened this (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7462f3a8-8292-49f9-9cce-c67fcd7178f9/senderid-spf-include-keyword-bad-evaluation?forum=exchangesvrsecuremessaging#2e2b7d3e-8a9d-45ca-a22b-60b91fcb6694) thread but it I was misunderstand the issue, so Im posting it again.

Do anyone else confirm that issue?

I want to load balance CAS servers with Citrix Netscaler.

How should I fit in Netscaler in the design.

Questions about Auditors' recommendations

$

Hi all -

We're running exchange 2010, which users access via outlook, OWA, and smartphones/tablets. Our security auditors made the following recommendations for the "webmail" (CAS/Hub) servers:

1. Set SSL 3.0 to require TLS

2. Set SSL 2.0 to require TLS

3. Disable the "options method" in IIS

Aside from the fact that I don't know how to do this, I'm a little concerned about making changes to SSL. By doing so, am I going to break any devices? I'm worried about smartphones not connecting, and users who open OWA on an XP machine.

Appreciate any advice/experiences.

Mike

MIME Format instead of PDF

Hello everyone,

I'm having the following issue with one of our customers.
They are receiving a .pdf from a scanner, from an external party.

Once received, it's all in ASCII format, and no PDF.
If the external party mails it to their own mail adress or other users they receive it as an .PDF

Exchange 2010 & 2013 coexistence mail flow between servers

Hi Everyone,

I have an exchange 2010 server which I am trying to move away from. I have installed 2013 and it seems to be working well. I have successfully moved a mailbox over to 2013 without any issues.

The problem i have at the moment is that a user who has their mailbox on the 2010 server can send to the user on the 2013 server. However the 2013 user cannot reply.

Any ideas?

Microsoft Exchange Anti Spam Update

I installed the Microsoft Exchange Server Standard Anti Spam Filter update V3.3.14422.478 on the 5th of January, 2015 and after a required reboot it appears as though many users,  including myself are no longer receiving e-mails with attachments.  It is Exchange Server standard 2010, any ideas where I can start to trouble shoot?  There were other updates installed on that date but they were for the windows server and IE 11, one for malicious software removal.

I have 4 exchange servers

2 MBX and 2 CAS.

I am forwarding the smtp request from firewall to cas02 and using cas01 as stand by.

Email are working fine except some time when we look at the email queue emails get queued n smtp database. And it take very long time to route to user mailbox.

My mailbox in the DAG.

When I checked in the Active Directory DNS MX record pointing to cas01 and cas02

Hi all,

Due to a geographical move, I am in the process of migrating a number of users from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2007.

the move was done as an exchange org admin from the Exchange 2010 Server GUI (not Exchange Management Shell)

When i did the move, it seems to have worked, but the move request Status was : Completed with Warnings.

 the details tab shows;

Warning: Failed to reset the target mailbox after the move.
Error details: Not connected.

the detailed log shows this at the end;

Before i continue with the user migration i need to know why i am getting these errors and what it means. what type of issues could it cause in the future.

there is a technet article (below) that comments on moves from 2010 to 2007.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638124(v=exchg.141).aspx

I am not using single item recovery, however i did NOT purge the recoverable items folder.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks
