When I try to send an e-mail to the one specific domain I'm getting an error message:

Primary target IP address resonded with: 554 policy violation. attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed etc..

I have no problems with sending e-mails to most of the domains, exepct this one

What might that be?

Thank you in advance

Hello all,

For some reason when I create a zip file with password protection my edge server blocks it

No problems appear when I send a simple zip file without any passwords

Tried the command Get-AttachmentFilterEntry | Format-Table suggesting that *zip format might be in the list of restricted extensions, but couldn'f find anything there

Your help will be much appreciated

Exchange 2013 CAS server returned '500 Message rejected'

Hi, all.

Exchange 2013 with CAS server and 2 mailbox servers. Health checks are all 100% healthy.

One of our users cannot receive email from an external user. Our CAS server keeps rejecting the message. I can trace the message and see that it did indeed hit our servers, and was rejected. But I cannot find out WHY it was rejected.

Here is the Delivery Report from the EAC:

Delivery Report for               NAME ‎(user@ourcompany.com)
Failed

3/30/2015 1:41 PM <CAS servername>
The message couldn't be delivered.

[{LRT=};{LED=500 Message rejected};{FQDN=};{IP=}]

The external user gets this NDR:

<our local CAS servername> gave this error:
Message rejected

In the Diagnostic information for administrator section:

<our local CAS servername> returned '500 message rejected'

followed by the Original message headers. I think I'm looking for some more verbose logging to see what rule or configuration rejected the message. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi I am unique situation plz help me to resolve this issue.

Our company XYZ has XYZ.in domain name and mail server also hosted in hosted service providers linux based mail server.

Now he have decided and implemented our own exchange 2013 with xyz.local domain internally And created users same as hosted service providers.

Eg:-user1@xyz.in (user in hosted service providers)

User1@xyz.local (user in internal exchange server)

User2@xyz.local (user in internal exchange server)

The issue is when we send mail from user1@xyz.in touser2@xyz.local I am able to receive it but when I send mail from useruser2@xyz.local to user1@xyz.in it is delivering mail to user1@xyz.local but we are expecting the mail in user1@xyz.in .

Please suggest what maybe  the issue.

Exchange Server 2013 and ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender

Hello, Team!

I think I’ve found a serious issue in last CU releases. This is the case:

1 Multirole server Exchange 2013 SP1 (and older) , one creceive connector from internet to this server, no edge, nothing.

I care about preventing spoofing my company’s email addresses, and remove remove the ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender transport permission from anonymous senders.

To do this, we usually simple run powershell command

Remove-ADPermission <ReceiveConnector Name> –user “NT AUTHORITY\Anonymous Logon” –ExtendedRights ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender

This command works on Exchange SP1, the client (telnet session, f.e.) which try spoof address of company will be refused. (see screenshot below)

But in Exchange 2013 CU5, CU6 and even CU7 release this revoke permissions DOESN’T WORKS without any errors, softly. I've try Powershell and ADSI but unsuccessfully.

Then we take off permission on connector above, we keep 3 default permissions:

Accept-any-sender

Accept-Routing-Headers

Submit-Message to Server

It is wonderful works only on server SP1, but not on servers with older versions, which have right settings.

The saddest thing is I have information about Office 365 this behavior reproduced too. And I also think what in your lab you could take 15 minutes and play this simply thing....

I found only that information on connector side is diffenent on SP1 and CU5,6,7.

This is normal connection on SP1, when somebody try spoofed address. We can see a 250 AUTH Response on server side, and server refuse fake connection, all right.

And on CU5 and newest versions we doesnt see this code. Maybe auth mechanism miss something?

Any suggestions? On MS connect site a didn't found exchange bugs topic :)

non-universal distributed group went out as is

Issue: We are running Outlook 2007, with Exchange 2013. We have non-universal local distributed group (LDG). If our insider users sent email to outsiders, and included this non-universal LDG as one of the recipients, the non-universal LDG would be sent out as is.

Problem: Outsider responded/replied email to "All", and got rejected alert off non-universal LDG.

Question: how to set up, either Outlook or Exchange, to resolve/expand these non-universal LDG into individuals to outsiders.

A customer in a Hosted Exchange environment needs to have a all of their outgoing emails routed to a Smart Host for encryption purposes. Only the email coming from the one domain on the server needs to use this connector, all others can use the default connector. Can this be done? if so, How?

Transport rule to block CC'd email to external email address

Good morning

I am not sure if this is possible but what I am trying to acheive is the following:

When an internal user sends and email to a particular internal email address and CC's in an external email address, I want to block that cc'd email to the external address but still allow the email to the internal address to make it through.

Hopefully I have explained this well enough. Is this possible?

Kind regards

Server components states keep getting marked at inactive

I have a new Exchange 2013 server on premisses.  Twice in the last week some of the server components have been marked as inactive.  Is there a way ti figure out why this is happening?

This is randomly stopping mail flow from our ticket tracking software because it uses POP3

These are the commands I had to run before.  I will correct this IMAP proxy one in just a bit;

Set-ServerComponentState -Identity lo-exch2 -Component imapproxy -Requester HealthAPI -State Active

Set-ServerComponentState -Identity lo-exch2 -Component forwardsyncdaemon -Requester HealthAPI -State Active

Set-ServerComponentState -Identity lo-exch2 -Component PopProxy -Requester HealthAPI -State Active

Set-ServerComponentState -Identity lo-exch2 -Component provisioningrps -Requester HealthAPI -State Active

Exchange Attachment Size problem

Good morning,

I have set our send and receive connectors to allow 20MB e-mail size, but I am still getting an error if any email is greater than about 7MB.  I get an Outlook error message that states "The file you are attaching is bigger than the server allows." If I attach several smaller items, I get this on the last attachment that puts the email over the 7MB limit.

I get this message with Outlook 2013 connected to Exchange 2013 and also get the message with Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange 2007.  This infrastructure has been upgraded with almost each version of Exchange since 5.5.  I am guessing there is a legacy setting somewhere, but I am unable to find it.

Thanks for any help that can be provided,

Jeff

Block Top Level Domain (.eu)

I'm trying to configure a transport rule in Exchange 2013 to block all emails from the TLD .eu   We get nothing but a TON of spam that is not caught by the Exchange 2013 spam filter, and it's always from a different domain. I have seen guides for 2007 and 2010, but nothing for 2013.

Do I just use the rule "The sender domain is" and use the value ".eu"? I just want to verify this is the correct way to block a TLD.

Pipeline Tracing Enabled, Original.EML / Routing.EML / SMTP.EML not show some times.

Hi All,

I had enabled Pipeline Tracing on both my Mailbox 2013 (DAG).

Noticed some times the message log in the pipeline trace folder doesn't show all 3 EML files in it.

Under what circumstance Original.EML is not logged, but Routing.EML / SMTP.EML is logged, or vice versa?

Hope someone can help me on this.

Thanks and Regards,

Error in Edge server mail queue LED=451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX6

We have two Edge servers deployed at our Central location where it accepts mails from all other site and send it to Internet and vice versa. There is no problem for outgoing mails but while receiving the mails from the internet there is always an average queue of 600 to 700 mails (some time goes up to 2000). After analysing the issue we found the below errors..

  1. LED=451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX6
  2. 451 4.4.0 SMTPSEND.SuspiciousRemoteServerError; remote server disconnected abruptly; retry will be delayed
  3. 421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to TimedOut

We have then picked random 10/12 recipients from the error queue and found all of ‘em  were from a specific site.

we have tried the below solution... after searching for resolution on the Internet

  1. Tried enabling protocol logging but nothing found
  2. Since it was more likely to be a DNS issue, tried manually adding DNS server IPs in the ‘Default front end receive connector’ properties.
  3. Tried adding DNS server IPs manually into both Transport servers in ‘DNS Lookup’ setting in the server properties.
  4. Tried adding local server's IP to the hosts file.
  5. Checked if SMTP fixup is enabled on Firewall.
  6. Verified the receive connector security settings.
  7. Verified the CPU and Memory utilization is normal.
  8. Disabled the Performance Counter on both Transport Server to ensure memory usage.

but nothing seems helping

now the problem is because of this there is a mail delay of at least 20 minutes for incoming mails.

Need help resolving the same.

Throttling policy not working on Exchange 2013 CU6

$

Hi,

We have a test throttling policy to restrict a mailbox to send at most 2 messagesper minute in our live Exchange 2013 CU6 enviroment. It was associated to a test mailbox. We have separated installed 2 mailboxe and 2 cas server roles in our enviroment. I have checked latest CU-s (7 & 8) but these are not fixing any related bugs.

We tried lots of workaround (see below list) and solutions to fix this but it is still not working with outlook MAPI and OWA client.

The policy details:

Get-ThrottlingPolicy  low_rate_limit |fl *limit*

MessageRateLimit   : 2
RecipientRateLimit : 1000

Get-mailbox testuser@contoso.com | fl ThrottlingPolicy

ThrottlingPolicy           : low_rate_limit

Do you have any idea what is the problem?

Thank you in advance.

Zoltan

We are experiecing delay of emails for users because of the Throttlig on Exchange 2013 servers.

This is causing company wide Delay and users are complaining as it takes a lot of time for the queue to get cleared.

We called in Microsoft and they suggested some values changes to msexchangedelivery.exe.config file

We added the following values, but still we face issues when there is Email flood.

Any one faced this or any suggestions that you have.
