Shared mailbox has no history of anything in the Sent archive?

$

Hello,

I created a shared mailbox a few months ago and gave access to 3 other users. They also use a third party program to send messages as the shared mailbox(in the software itself). Now when I look at the Sent archive of that shared mailbox, there is nothing in it(it would appear as though as if there wasn't a single sent message there).

Is there a way to check that emails are being sent from this shared mailbox?

Thanks,

EDADVC

External Mails Not coming to mailbox

Hello All,

I have a setup of AD, DNS and DHCP on one box and Exchange 2013 sp1 cu12 on another box. Both the boxes are Virtual box hosted in VMware Workstation and having IP 192.168.0.xx and network settings set to Bridge. I have installed Exchange 2013 Sp1 Cu12 mail box created for user. Users are able to send/receive mails internally and also send mail externally but unable to receive mails externally.

MY ISP is providing Dynmaic IP addresss. Please let me know where I am missing as I am new to exchange.

Jai

Hi,

I've attached another user's mailbox with my mailbox by using this command

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity user1 -User user2 -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping $true

But now I am unable to remove this user's account from my outlook. Whenever I enter this command to remove other user's mailbox from my mailbox

Remove-MailboxPermission -Identity user1 -User user2 -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All

I am always getting the same message

WARNING: An inherited access control entry has been specified: [Rights: CreateChild, Delete, ReadControl, WriteDacl, WriteOwner, ControlType: Allow]  and was ignored on object "CN=User1,OU=Users=,DC=abc,DC=com".

and I am unable to remove user from my profile.

Can anyone help me  in this regard

Message Stuck in Submission Queue with Status Active

$

Hello,

I'm facing a strange problem where messages remain in submission queues with status "Active" and do not get delivered to the mailboxes.

Since the queue is a submission queue, everything points to the categorizer. Moreover, those messages suddently get delivered after half an hour appoximately.

There are many transport rules in the organization that are complex and long. This is causing the transport service to take one and a half minutes to start. Can these rules be the cause of the problem?

Furthermore, the messages that get stuck in the submission have certain recipients that are used in the transport rules in order to decide to act on the message or not.

Let me give an example of the rules:
If the message is from [long list of addresses] and the recipient is [member of distribution group or mailbox] then remove the message.

And one last thing, the actions on the rules are BCC and Remove. As far as I know, the remove action has to be the only action on a rule, those rules were probably migrated that way, should I update them and use the redirect transport action?

Thanks in advance,

Christos

Removing EDGE?

'Hi guys.

We are doing a test with 3rd party SMTP relay host. We would like to use this host also for inbound traffic to Exchange server.

Currently we have Exchange EDGE in our environment.

Is it enough to change public MX record to point to this new 3rd party SMTP relay host for inbound mail traffic, or do you need to remove edge subscription before SMTP relay host can handle inbound traffic from internet to Exchange server in LAN?

With best regards

Deny External addresses from relaying through server (spoofing).

Hello All.

I've searched the web and read loads of posts but many are contradicting or for ancient versions of Exchange.

I'm sitting with an Exchange 2013 server that is receiving, and relaying mail, from the internet. In most cases the bogus mails uses the addresses of three legitimate users, or a non existing variation of their e-mail addresses.

Eg. Legit: frank@contoso.com - Bogus: frankb@contoso.com / contosofranke@contoso.com or 001b01d1cf64$011c9fd6$86ea9287$frank@contoso.com etc etc etc.

According to the transport logs, these mail originate outside the network and authenticate "anonymously".

(Note: I replaced the domain name with "domain")

What is the quickest and easiest way to stop the relay of internet messages through the server?

Thank you in advance.

The messages have a text "Unsubscribe", when i clic on "UNSUBSCRIBE" text or "WHY AM I RECEIVING THIS MAIL?", I get a Internet Explorer Windows with a form for Unsubscrit to list distribution. I need cancel this message since PoweeShell or ECP.

The OS es Windows 2012 R2 and the exchange server is Exchange 2013.

I attach the picture with the header.

Loop detection

$

Hi

We have a shared smtp namespace, where a thirdparty cloud service is responsible to route the emails to the correct location using routing tables.

Therefore the accepted domain is set to non authoritative.

Problem:
There was an error in the routing table, and emails where sent to the wrong server. Because this server didn't know these addresses he sent them back to the cloud service. The cloud service, of course, used the wrong routing table and sent the emails back to the wrong exchange server  -->  Loop.

After some attempts the exchange server detected the loop, and deferred the message. One day later the wrong routing table was corrected. Now all these mails are vanished and the sender didn't receive NDRs.

1. question: What happened with these emails?

Normally the cloud service detects mailloops and send NDRs after 7 retries. But it seems, that the exchange server detected it earlier, but because the domain is non authoritative, no NDRs were sent.

2. question: Is it possible to configure the mailloop detection in Exchange?
The goal is that Exchange detects a mailloops only after lets say 8 attempts, so that the cloud service can send NDRs.

LDAP Server is unavailable error on Edge Transport server.

Had an issue with the self-signed cert on our Exchange 2013 Edge Transport server. Generated new cert and am now trying to re-create the Edge subscription. When trying to remove the existing subscription or create a new one on the Edge server I get the error"The LDAP server is unavailable". Tried restarting the ADAM service as well as rebooting the server but did not help. There is mail queued on there so really need to get this working again.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Adding Exchange 2013 Edge Transport to an existing Exchange 2007 organization

$

Dear experts,

My setup consists currently of 2 Exchange 2007 SP3 (latest UR) servers in the same site (CAS+HUB+MBX on each machine). There is currently no Edge Transport role, however we need to deploy one asap due to some business reasons.

The full migration to Exchange 2013 is planned for early next year, so for the moment I only want the Edge 2013 role in my existing Exchange 2007 organization.

My question is whether or not I can already install the Exchange 2013 Edge Transport server in DMZ (not domain joined) and have the mailflow to/from my existing Exchange 2007 organization going through this new Exchange 2013 Edge Transport without installing yet any Exchange 2013 FE/BE server.

Many thanks for your answers!

Odd Problem With Lost Messages

$

I've had a few people report that they send messages using our Exchange server and the recipient never receives it.  Here's what I know:

- The message does appear in the "Sent Items" folder of the sender, so they're not stuck in the Outbox.

- The message is not found in the Message Journal.

- The message is no where to be found in searches of the Delivery Reports using the EAC.

- The message can either be on our Exchange server (completely internal), between us and a sister Exchange server (different forest) or sent to an SMTP address outside of our company.

- Not all messages fail--only some of them.

- The failures seem to come in batches instead of a random single message here and there.  It's more like 7 messages in a row are lost and then it starts working again.

We're a single server Exchange 2013 environment (CU3).  Yes, we're behind on patches.  Next maintenance window...

Does this sound at all familiar?  If this is a known bug, I want to be sure it's fixed in the CU level that I move to.

Thanks!

Patrick

Error sending emails to Internet: Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051

$

Our exchange 2013 CU2 (CAS+MBX, Win2012) was sending emails to Internet using another server (a kerio email server) and outbound internet email was working as expected.

We have now removed the Kerio server, I also removed the kerio_Send_Connector I was using to send emails to internet and I also changed the email domain in Exchange to be authoritative. I created a new Internet send connector with default values, but the same bad behavior is present.

Our Exchange 2013 receives emails internally and externally with no problems. The problems are sending emails to Internet. I am suspecting something in the firewall but i need to do some more research.

If from the same Exchange server I telnet to an Internet email host:25 I do get the smtp banner but as soon as I start typing HELO/EHLO I get disconnected and errors are logged.

Errors when sending emails to any emails address (this is from an email sent to google, all others are the same):
****
Remote Server at aspmx3.googlemail.com (74.125.136.26) returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
7/1/14 9:52:44 a. m. - Remote Server at aspmx3.googlemail.com (74.125.136.26) returned '441 4.4.1 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address: "Failed to connect. Winsock error code: 10051, Win32 error code: 10051." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 74.125.136.26:25'

****
I cannot find any references from such Winsock error that are related to Exchange 2013.

So far all email is being queued at the Exchange Server 2013. I am afraid to install CU3 and make things worse.

Thanks for your comments.

Exchange Server 2013 and ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender

Hello, Team!

I think I’ve found a serious issue in last CU releases. This is the case:

1 Multirole server Exchange 2013 SP1 (and older) , one creceive connector from internet to this server, no edge, nothing.

I care about preventing spoofing my company’s email addresses, and remove remove the ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender transport permission from anonymous senders.

To do this, we usually simple run powershell command

Remove-ADPermission <ReceiveConnector Name> –user “NT AUTHORITY\Anonymous Logon” –ExtendedRights ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender

This command works on Exchange SP1, the client (telnet session, f.e.) which try spoof address of company will be refused. (see screenshot below)

But in Exchange 2013 CU5, CU6 and even CU7 release this revoke permissions DOESN’T WORKS without any errors, softly. I've try Powershell and ADSI but unsuccessfully.

Then we take off permission on connector above, we keep 3 default permissions:

Accept-any-sender

Accept-Routing-Headers

Submit-Message to Server

It is wonderful works only on server SP1, but not on servers with older versions, which have right settings.

The saddest thing is I have information about Office 365 this behavior reproduced too. And I also think what in your lab you could take 15 minutes and play this simply thing....

I found only that information on connector side is diffenent on SP1 and CU5,6,7.

This is normal connection on SP1, when somebody try spoofed address. We can see a 250 AUTH Response on server side, and server refuse fake connection, all right.

And on CU5 and newest versions we doesnt see this code. Maybe auth mechanism miss something?

Any suggestions? On MS connect site a didn't found exchange bugs topic :)

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to block users who create rules on within outlook to "Redirect" all email messages to an external email address. I have created a Transport Rule that allows me to block "Forwarding & Forward as Attachment". I was looking and haven't found a good way to stop those emails from users who are using "Redirect" to forward those emails external. Could you guys assist if this is possible?

Exchange 2010 & 2016 queues

Hoping you can help, we are migrating from Exchange 2010 to 2016 and setup a new Exchange 2016.

Everything seems to be fine until I noticed that emails from external are being delivered to the new Exchange 2016 server but then getting stuck and will not deliver them to the mailboxes that are currently on the Exchange 2010 server.

What am I missing?

How can you tell if an mail was transmitted using TLS encryption (or not)?

Is there a way to check the log's and audit if messages where send with a specific version of TLS or is transferd as clear text in Exchange 2013?
