550 5.4.4 Error when using Contact to Relay mail

$

Hi!

I have a customer who would like to use contacts to relay mails to external partners working for him. The problem is that when we send mails to this contact the sender receives a NDR with the code 550 5.4.4. We have been able to trace the problem back to the NoSpamProxy being used in the DMZ, because we can see the following in the logs:

220   mail.<customer domain> ready

EHLO   mail.<customer domain>

250-mail.<customer domain>  welcome

250-DSN

250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES

250-8BITMIME

250   SIZE

5985425

MAIL   FROM:<Source Email-Address>   SIZE=15241

250   2.0.0 Requested mail action okay

RCPT   TO:<Name@Targetdomain>   ORCPT=rfc822;name@Customer Domain NOTIFY=FAILURE,DELAY

550   5.4.4 Unable to relay

QUIT

221 2.0.0 Service closing transmission channel

My guess is that the NoSpamProxy recognizes that the mail is being relayed and blocks it. I was wondering if any of you have had this problem and what your work-around is?

Thanks for any and all input.

Cheers,

Gerrit

Outlook 2016/2013- Not able to connect to Exchange 2013 from External or Non-domain PC

Hello All,

I am having problem connecting to our Exchange 2013 from Outlook 2016 application running on external PC (outside LAN) or internal PC but not joined to Domain using auto-discovery. However there is no issue connecting to Exchange from Domain joined PC, auto-discovery working fine and connects to Exchange.

The problem is, when I try to setup Exchange profile by entering name, email address and password, it tries to find Exchange server through auto-discovery and after few seconds it prompts for entering password where my email-address is shown as user-name. Even after I put my password correctly, it still opens-up the same password prompt window. It keeps on coming again and again, no matter how many times I put my correct password.

Sometime, though, it throws another message "An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available. Click next to attempt using an unencrypted connection.". Then selecting unencrypted connection, eventually it fails and give me option to choose Activesync or IMAP/POP3.

From Domain-joined PC and when logged-into Domain, Auto-discovery seems working fine because Outlook 2016 can find the Exchange and able to create profile and connect to server without any issue. It does not prompt for any password since I am already logged-into domain. Also from Smart-phones, Outlook or other Email clients can be setup to connect to Exchange and no issue with that. Only with computers which are not on domain. Not sure what is causing this.

I tried using Activesync, but got to know its for lite-version of email clients and not for full-featured client which Outlook is.

My guess, the issue is lying somewhere in Exchange configuration the way authentication is being handled for outside domain. I don't think its an issue with Outlook application, I have tried it on different PCs with 2016 and 2013 version of Outlook, same result.

I have had lots of time spent to troubleshoot this issue, no luck ye. I will appreciate any advice which may help to resolve the issue.

How to check Load Balacer IP address in Exchange

Hi All,

We are using Exchange 2013 servers as 2 mailbox server's and 2 CAS servers.

We are using F5 load balancing for exchange, My security team introduced new F5 for F5 failover purpose.

My security Team configured new F5 with existing active F5 settings.

We are testing F5 IP address using client host file for outlook and owa connectivity

My question is How to check F5 IP or client IP address in exchange to confirm New F5 functioning properly.

I have checked IIS logs under path C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1 but there is not showing New F5 or client IP address.

Please help out on this.

Unable to reprocess messages in the PickUp folder

Hi all!

I have an issue in my on-premises Exchange 2013 environment (CU13). Let me explain the situation before:

we have an automatic incident generation system that, if you send an email to it, open a Support Ticket on behalf of the sender. It happened that for 8 hours this mechanism ignored mails, so for 8 hours users send support mail without having a support case opened. I have these mail in the inbox of the mailbox, and I need to resubmit to the Incident System's recipient.

I tried to convert the .msg into .eml format using MFCMAPI and then place the file into PuckUp folder in the Exchange server, but after some seconds the file is renamed in .bad and then not processed. It seems that the file is not formatted in a good way or something is missing in the SMTP headers, but I'm not able to find what's wrong.

I then tried to use the Search-Mailbox command piped with "Export-Message $_.Identity | AssembleMessage -Path ("c:\temp\jm\mail\"+ $i +".eml")}" but the Search-Mailbox cmdlet needs a destination pst or a destination mailbox, otherwise it fails.

Do you guys have some suggestion on how to:

- convert the unprocessed messages from the mailbox in the EML format that can be processed and sent by Transport service;

or

-  export the messages with search-mailbox and then use the AssembleMessage cmdlet;

or

- achieve this goal using another way.

Thanks!

Transport Rule Exceptions

Hello,

I'm looking for some assistance with transport rules.  I have several rules setup that I need to add an exclusion to.  We have email coming in from a couple specific hosts that I need to exclude from the rule.  Unfortunately there are no 'exclude if email comes from specific host' rules to use.  I thought I might be able to use the match text in message header rule, but I can't find any (good) documentation on how to even use that rule.

If anyone knows of a way to exclude emails from a transport rule by host name or IP I'd appreciate some assistance.

Thanks,

Bill

What is this sequence number generated?

Hi,

We have configured our exchange server to send out email to another mail server. So prior to an email getting delivered in the room mailbox. We've created an smtp send connector, and set the target ip address for this requirement.

Here is a screenshot of smtp logs taken from the target server...

Notice the highlighted line. The room mailbox address is actually 21.12P1567@contoso.com

However that is not what appears in a RCPT handshake. Why does it happen like this? What is that sequence number getting prefixed prior to the mail id. Plus, why is the mail id saying<machine_name>.contoso.com as the domain?

Any setting to change this? Hope I've posted this in the correct forum. If not please show me the correct forum.

Emails from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 showing in Unreachable Queue

$

I have installed Exchange 2013 in the Exchange 2010 environment and created some test users and didn't notice any issues.

After initial testing I have moved some of the production mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, intermittently i see that emails from Exchange 2010 users for Exchange 2013 users are stuck on Exchange 2010 HUB servers in a Unreachable Queue.

Initially it was showing DNS error , SMTP SEND error in the Last Error, but now it doesn't show anything and the emails sit in Unreachable Domain.

I checked different DNS options etc, it only works when I bounce the AD Topology Service on the HUB Server.

After bouncing the service if i check, then i can see the "Hub Version 15" queue showing and the emails are delivered to the Exchange 2013 mailboxes.

Not sure what is causing the problem as I checked both the Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 servers are in the same subnet and also they are in Same AD Site.

Can anyone helpme with this, i cannot proceed with the migration before I resolve this issue.

Exchange 2013 CU15 Update - Unable to relay

Hi people.

We have a problem after update Exchange with CU15.  We should update to federate some domains against Office365.  After the update, no server could send alerts or some applications mails.

We make a Receive Connector, Frontend type, with anonymous user validation, but doesn't work.

Somebody knows about connector changes in the Cumulative Update for Exchange 2013?

Thanks a lot!

Exchange 2013 CU16 Mail Flow Issues

Having trouble with a new installation of exchange. Its running on Windows Server 2012 R2. All non-default ports are being forwarded to the server, the IP is not on any blacklists. We do have an existing exchange server running on the default ports. Mail doesn't get stuck in drafts but never gets delivered and has the "unable to relay" error. I can give more details later, but, I've got to run for now. Any suggestions are appreciated. Sorry if lack of any useful information in the initial post.

Unable to get TLS working on Exchange 2013 Receive Connector

$

I just finished setting up and implementing a new Exchange 2013 server.  It was a migration from SBS 2008.  Email works beautifully along with activesync and outlook anywhere.  The only problem I'm having is TLS will not work on the Internet facing receive connector and I cannot figure out why.  I use the AD CA to sign certificates and then distribute the root certificate to computers outside the domain.  The CA was migrated from SBS to a new DC with a different hostname, but I kept the CA name the same.  I can issue new certificates without error, and the CRL distribution points appear to be working.  I have confirmed the desired certificate is assigned to SMTP, and that the receive connector is set to use TLS.  Where can I look to figure out why Exchange is not offering TLS?

Add X-Envelope_To: header ?

Hi, it does not appear possible to add an X-Envelope-To: header to messages to show the original envelope recipient at the point it arrives at the exchange server.  i.e. it is not possible, in the mail flow rules, to obtain the envelope recipient.

Any ideas appreciated.
