Exchange 2013 Transport service hangs occasionally 4.3.2 Service not available

$

0

A new install of Exchange 2013 into a domain which once contained and SBS 2003 server. (SBS removed before Exchange installed).

We are having occasional problems with the Transport service. It works fine for a few hours then starts responding with 4.3.2 Service not available.

The Transport service IS STILL running at this stage, and restarting it makes mail start flowing again.

We also have (possible related) 3 application errors from time to time

How to open SMTP for (authenticated) relay

$

Hi,
I have a 2013 installed and working - both with incoming mail and outgoing mail when using Outlook and similar clients.

No problems sending mail from and to either internal or external domains. However, I want to authenticate with the standard SMTP server with a username + password and send e-mail using "standard clients".

I cannot get this to work. In code, when I authenticate through SMTP (user/pass) and tries to send an email from "user@mydomain.com" to "user@anotherdomain.com", I get the error:

Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay.

I don't really know how to set this up to get it working. In an existing Exchange 2007, I had no problem setting this up, but I cannot get it to work in 2013. If I add "*" to accepted domain, it works, of course, but that gives me an Open Relay.

I have a default send connector, mapped to the SMTP domain "*".

How do I configure so that all authenticated users can relay freely?

Mailbox Size Global settings vs individual mailbox settings in EX10

Hello Gurus,

So I know the SMTP connector and the Receive connector and the mailbox database store is where I can set my limitations for Mail size coming in and going out. Now on the individual mailbox user>mail flow settings>MSG size restrictions, does that setting override the global settings? Also, if I uncheck the sending and receiving message boxes there, does that mean they take on the default limits?

Thank You,

~Skelleyman

MS Exchange External Emails

Hi All

I have been searching for the past few days around this problem i have and im unsure how to solve it. I have a web domain, lets call it www.web.co.uk and its currently hosted on fasthost.co.uk

I have setup a MS Exchange server on my network but i cannot workout how to set it up to receive external emails, is it because the external emails are pointing to the above web hosts? how do i go about changing this?

I only need a selected few users to be pointed to my own MS Exchange server and not every mailbox created on my web hosts.

Im running MS Server 2012 & MS Exchange 2013.

If you need anymore information to help let me know.

Exchange 2013 accepting emails from random@domain.com without a catchall in place

$

Hello all,

Have a problem here with an Exchange 2013 server.  This server seems to be accepting emails as if there was a catchall in place, except we do NOT have a catchall in place.  (i.e. receiving messages from 234djhe35@domain.com, 8fhj3875@domain.com, etc.)

Thankfully, these emails are getting caught via a SonicWall anti-spam service, however they are coming in by the tens of thousands per day.  The "messages received" on the SonicWall is like a stock ticker.

Does Exchange 2013 come with some out of box catchall that I do not know of?  I need to have emails to these "mailboxes" dropped entirely, and not received and processed by the SW.  Can someone lend any advice?

Thanks!

Blank message from one sender to Exchange 2013 server

Hi to all ,

I have a customer with Exchange Server 2013 Cu1 , that is installed on a single server.

I had implemented Anti-malware and Anti-Spam agents in the exchange server and everything is fine.

Sending, receiving form inside and outside works perfectly .

My customer have one Wordpress website that sends e-mail to the Exchange Server .

These e-mails are received in the exchange server , but the content is empty.

I disabled the anti-malware engine but the messages are still empty. The attachments are there but with only 272bytes of data

I tried to set :

BinaryMimeEnabled $false

ChunkingEnabled $false

but the message is still empty.

I did review the SMTP Receive log but I can't find any clue what cause the error.

Here is the stripped Log

Hi,

E2K13CU1 with default settings added to working existing E2K10SP3 organization.

Mail doesn't leave Drafts folder (sent form OWA).

Telnet to server at port 25 responds after MAIL FROM: with:

421 4.3.2 Service not active (exactly - didn't found anything like this anywhere)

I checked DNS (also set custom DNS config in E2K13 ecp, all services are running, no custom AV, no low disk space, no events.

Thank you

The transpot role in EX2010 has been moved to mailbox role in EX2013, mailbox role will send message without using CAS.

So, for internal network, the MX record should point to a Mailbox Role server or CAS server?

Hi,

We have been facing some spam issue from the last twodays.

Our IP is balcklisted and we couldn't send the mails. Though I delisted the IP from the blaklisted hosts, it is repeating again and again.

I don't know How I can get rid of this problem. We have Kaspersky security on our server and also the firewall.

Please suggest me how can resolve this issue?

How does GSSAPI authentication work from systems not on the domain

$

I've got an Exchange 2003 server that is Internet facing on port 25.  It's purpose has been to relay mail for authenticated clients from all over the country.  I've noticed in a wireshark trace and from the MSExchange Transport authentication logging that it's using the GSSAPI mechanism.  Since the sending clients are not joined to the domain, how can Kerberos work in this scenario.  I don't see how the client could know about or contact the KDC to get a TGT or a service ticket.  The client is basically a .Net application that has basic SMTP server and authentication paramaters given to it.

Any pointers or documentation I can review to understand how this works?

Is this authentication more secure on the wire without TLS than AUTH LOGIN, which obviously isn't secure at all?

why still get external emails even with RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled set to $True

As mentioned in the topic...

The odd thing is that when I created a new test DL, with RequireSenderAuthenticationEnabled    set to  $True, and it works - will rejected external emails... but the old DL will accept?!

Is this a bug?

Our current Exchange server version is SP2 with Rollup 5-v2.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Exchange 2010 Hybrid Routing

$

Hi,

Current Configuration

I have O365 setup in Hybrid mode with On-premise Exchange 2010 SP3.

Some users will remain on-premise while some have their mailboxes on O365.

Both cloud and on-premise users share the same email namespace.

For now, inbound mails are delivered to on-premise servers before it is forwarded to cloud users

.

Next Step

I want to modify the MX records so that mails are received directly in the Cloud.

Desired Outcome

I want certain on-premise users to be able to exchange mails with cloud based recipients

I want certain on-premise users to be able to send and receive mails to and from internet recipients

I am aware FOPE/EOP allows one to configure email hygiene and routing.

How do I configure the connectors on the on-premise servers as well as FOPE?

Ситуация следующая:

есть Exchange 2013 CU

accepted domains

domain1.com

MX mail.domain1.com

полностью настроен все ходит замечательно.

у него в SPF указано, что он может работать в другими доменами, а именно в domain2.net

Задача, научить сервера работать со вторым доменом.

В DNS domain2.net добавил

MX mail.domain1.com

соответствующие SPF

accepted domains domain2.net

у пользователя указал дополнительный SMTP user@domain2.net

Почта начала уходить отлично.

Send As on Shared Mailbox don't send message in Exchange 2013

I have an Exchange server 2013 which created a shared mailbox and includes two users with permission to send as. But any user can not send the message (the message is in the outbox of the user). If I remove the Send As permission, the user receives an error that is not allowed but if I leave the send as permission, the user receives no error message, the message is not sent and remains in the outbox.

I tried setting using powershell or EAC and it was the same result.

Queue backing up

Client has Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003.  There was a migration from 2003 to 2010.  Several times a week the queue starts backing up and mail doesn't go out.  I ran Mailflow tests and it shows an error communication with the bridgehead server (Exchange2003).  Is there a way to get rid of this server and route all mail from the Exchange 2010?

I have found that if I restart the old server and restart all the Exchange serices on the 2010 server, mail starts flowing again.

Exchange 2013 - Unable to send email, Internally & Externally

Hi,

I have new testing lab to play around with which is starting to drive me insane. I have exchange 2013 and outlook 2013. I can receive emails from external domains but I am unable to send emails internally or externally!

Now I would know what to look at if I couldn't send externally, But not being able to send internally has completed confused me!

anyone got any tips where to start troubleshooting for not being able to send internal mail? Once internal mail works I should then be able to get external mail working as well....

Thanks

Need more info on Outlook 2010 and 2013.  From the technet info I checked Configure Information Rights Management in Office 2010and also for 2013, it seems both clients have the same features for RMS and DLP?  Therefore the features on RMS and DLP are mainly configured on the Exchange server 2013?

Database of one Exchange server are not able to view their mail items in their mailbox – only calendar items are visible.

Team,

All user from one particular Database of Exchange server 2007 are not able to view their mail items in their mailbox – only calendar items are visible.

Users are able to view their mail items on Blackberry devices but not on Outlook or OWA.

Steps taken till now:

  1.       Moved two mailboxes to this DB and found that the same issue was replicated on these two mailboxes as well.
  2.       Moved one of the two mailboxes out of the affected DB to a DB on a different server but the issue was not resolved
  3.       Moved a few customer mailboxes off the affected DB to a DB on a different server but the issue persists – mail items previous to moving the mailbox are not visible, though new mail items are visible and mail flow is working as of now.
